CEREBRAL
PALSY WHEELCHAIRS
Cerebral
palsy wheelchairs are designed and tailored specifically for
users who have cerebral palsy. As necessary, a CP chair can
be equipped with a special cushion to prevent pressure sores,
a tray, straps for balance (at the chest, hips, and legs),
and a headrest. Disacare’s in-house wheelchair technicians
will ensure that the needs of each CP Wheelchair user are
met.
Cerebral
palsy is a term which covers all the effects of damage to the
brain in the early years of childhood. Cerebral refers to the
brain and palsy to the damage. Every child with cerebral palsy
is affected differently, because the problems of each child
depend on the extent of the damage to th brain. The damage is
different in different children.
Most children have difficulties in the following
-
Carrying out big movements such as reaching out for things
or running
-
Making fine movements with their hands and fingers
-
Maintaining their posture i.e. the way they stand or sit
-
Understanding and learning about the world around them
